(Charlestown, MA -Tuesday, December 21, 2003) -Clifford Woolf has conducted research on a substance called capsaicin, found in hot chili peppers. His work helps to expain why inflammatory diseases like arthritis produce so much heat and pain. That knowledge could lead to production of new arthritis drugs as well as to a way to prevent abuse of opium-based pain killers like OxyContin.
